Learning from lap dancers...

Our friends over at Higher Ed Morning couldn't resist posting about a recent study that says that 1 in 4 exotic dancers has a college degree!

While this is interesting at best and a little disheartening at worst on its face, there is a valuable lesson for you as first generation and low income college students here (and it is completely unrelated to the stripping, sorry): Always look a little deeper into so-called research.

In college, you will be bombarded with lots of new information. You need to be cautious about what you are learning, so don't take everything at face value. Learning to critically evaluate information is a very necessary skill in adjusting to and surviving college.

When you look a little deeper at the stripper study, for example, only 300 women in the United Kingdom participated in the study. From this, you can't exactly assume that 1 in 4 of all exotic dancers everywhere has a college degree. So, thank you UK strippers for teaching us that we can't believe everything we read or hear.

Got questions? Please feel free to ask The Advisor about it.
