Be on the lookout

Your campus might have programs and services specifically designed for first generation and low income college students, you just have to find them if they are available. Here are some of the most common and well-known programs:
  • Educational Opporunity Program (EOP)
  • Federal TRiO Programs
  • Student Support Services (SSS)
  • Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program (McNair Scholars Program)
  • Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS)

Keep in mind that this list is by no means exhaustive! Your campus might have a different name for these programs or have different programs with similar services.

Once you know what programs your campus offers, find out about the eligibility requirements and application processes and apply. And if you apply and but there is not enough space in the program or you don't meet the eligibility requirements, don't fret. Chances are that even if you are not in one of these programs, the staff can steer you in the right direction to other campus resources.

Got questions? Please feel free to ask The Advisor about it.
