The Dream Act

A dear friend of mine shared this article about undocumented college students. It's on the long side, but worth the read. In addition to the usual issues faced by first generation and low income college students, undocumented college students also face a number of other well-founded fears, including deportation.

The Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act, better known as the DREAM Act, offers a glimmer of hope to future undocumented students by providing a path to citizenship. For current students, only a handful of states offer options.

If you are an undocumented college student or care about someone who is, here are a few resources:

Only reveal your undocumented status to trusted advisors and don't be afraid to get involved in the movement to make the DREAM Act a reality.
